Overlooking the Hamburg harbour, this Kontorhaus, a classic Hamburg mercantile office building, is ideally located with excellent views not only of the port but also of the Elbphilharmonie and the Speicherstadt, the traditional red brick harbour warehousing district which is a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is situated in Hamburg-Neustadt, next door to Deichstrasse and opposite HafenCity, it is also very near Landungsbrücken, the Hamburg port landing jetties.
Built in 1952, the views are as stupendous now as they were then, although much has changed within the harbour landscape over the past 70 years. The large windows were architecturally based on an American model, and the whole building is filled with light. |
